First official screenshot of the new Falasol 1.1.0 (alpha stage).
This design is not likely to change much in the release version planned for Easter 2010.
Please comment and tell your feelings about it (layout, colors etc.).
Any criticism is highly appreciated as well!

Nice, although the colours could be more user-friendly, lighter and not so… greyish.

There will be customizable color themes in further versions.
And Caribbean one will absolutely be there :)

However before I go crazy with colors, I tried to start with something everyone could use.
The current theme was inspired by MS Expression Suite fashion (which is even more monochromatic).
Far enough from generic apple-like design (I’d even call it grungy) and yet fine balanced not to distract the eyes from the main graph.

Anyway – I think you could make it more vivid. You know that the first impression is the most important. Some people may see its dull, sad, not encouraging colours and get discouraged.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
Fair enough, I’ll work on that in next releases.
    The quick road map:
    – v 1.1.1 – new switches & knobs (extending the sound model)
    – v 1.1.2 – graph improvements
    – v 1.1.3 – minor feature pack, including happy color themes :)

By the way – I’ve got some problems with using falasol – there are some errors and the program switches off!

Could you tell me when this happens and what’s the error message?

If it’s right at start, you are most likely missing recent .net platform.
It should be installed by default via windows update, but you can also get it there:

    A small obvious remark: logging.

Good point. Added to feature plans :)
(though I’m not sure if it would help in the case of missing .net)

Right at the beginning, but everything’s ok with the .net platform.

Cool! Thanks for giving it a try.
I was talking with my friend whether I should bundle this thing with my app.
The problem is it weights over 10x more than my bits :/
I want to keep the app as lightweight as possible. Also most people have .net installed already anyway.
For now I’ll just make bigger info on the download page.
